Aga Khan Foundation (India): Funding here is available for post-graduate studies in the areas of health, education, rural
development, architecture, environment and courses not available in India. There is however no funding for under-graduate
studies, engineering, computer science, MBA or for studies in India. Forms are issued from January each year and completed
forms must reach by 31st March of the year of award. Students in the age group of 25  - 38 years with an excellent academic
record are eligible for this loan scholarship. The amount offered varies in each individual case and consists of 50% loan and

Inlaks Scholarships: This fellowship is available for several disciplines. Applicants must be graduates, and 19 – 30 years old.

J. N. Tata Endowment:
Low interest loans between Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 Lakh are available for post-graduate / doctoral degrees
in any field primarily for an Indian National or a graduate of a recognized Indian University. Advertisements are placed in the first
Saturday of December. .Application forms, which cost Rs 100, are distributed till 31st January and these must be submitted by
15th February of the year of award. All the documents to be submitted to the trust are mentioned clearly in the application form.

K.C. Mahindra Education Trust: Loan scholarships are offered up to Rs 95,000 for post-graduate studies in various
disciplines like engineering, natural sciences, humanities, medicine, business management and military, naval and aviation
sciences. This scholarship is given out to cover travel and other incidental costs and 25 – 30 of them are distributed every year.
Forms may be requested before 28th February of the year of award and completed forms must reach by 31st March of the same
year. Candidates at the time of application are only expected to produce a list of universities they have applied to; however, at
the time of interview a proof demonstrating actual admission is necessary. Actual interview are held in July for which you will be

R. D. Sethna Scholarship Fund: An amount ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs. 1 Lakh at a nominal rate of interest for
undergraduate and postgraduate studies in science, technology, commerce and education (except Arts and Law), based on

B. D. Bangur Endowment:
Both loan scholarships as well as outright grants are given on the basis of merit and requirements
of the candidate. Maximum amount offered for an outright grant is Rs. 25,000 (though for a deserving candidate, this amount is
increased) while in case of a loan scholarship this amount does not exceed Rs 75,000. The latter is to be repaid immediately
after getting employment or 6 months after completion of the course, whichever comes first. The payments are made in the form
of 8 equal quarterly instalments and the interest rate is 2% per annum. Funding is provided only for post-graduate courses in
any field. Advertisements are normally placed in the month of February / March. However for admissions for academic year 2005
this is expected to change. Therefore, you must get the exact information in time from the contact details mentioned below. The

The Paul Foundation: The amount of scholarships offered by this foundation is Rs 15,00,000 which is the maximum limit as per
the guidelines of the government of India announced in the annual budget in the year 2002. The funding is available for
post-graduate and professional courses, fine arts and performing arts but not for courses like Hotel Management or Hospitality
Management. Look up their website for details on eligibility requirements and the documents to be submitted with the
application forms. The advertisement for the academic year 2005 is expected to appear in November of this year. The forms are
available online from November onwards till Feb 28th and the deadline for submission of these forms is usually 31st January.
However, these dates may vary each year by a few days or weeks.

AT& T Leadership Awards (for U.S. only):
US$ 5,000 awards for the students from the Asia-Pacific region going to the US for
study in any discipline. Six of the 36 awards went to Indians in 1998. Applications must reach the programme’s Malaysia

Sahu Jain Trust:
Their advertisement appears in the end
of March or early April in The Times of India (all over
India). Some informatory press releases also appear in
the local magazines in Delhi. The last date for collecting
application forms is 20th May and that for submitting them
is 30th May. The trust offers loan scholarships strictly for
technical subjects like computer science, engineering and
medical science at graduate and post-graduate level in
India as well as abroad. The loan
amount varies between Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 Lakh and is
repayable in interest free instalments after completion of
